Casablanca Plays It Again One More Time

Bogie and Bergman light up the big screen once again for a special Casablanca 70th Anniversary Encore Event this Thursday, April 26, at 7PM in more than 450 movie theaters nationwide.

If you missed it the first time, then here’s your second chance to see one of the most beloved films of all time on the big screen. Apparently, the initial Casablanca event was so popular last March that many locations across the country actually sold out. So, NCM Fathom Events, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies have come together again in order to meet the high demand and facilitate this rare encore presentation. Tickets for the event are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.fathomevents.com/. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, use the image above as a link to their website.

But don’t hesitate, or you may find yourself missing out. After all, “Tens of thousands of fans nationwide celebrated the 70th anniversary of this beloved classic in local movie theaters, with the event becoming the top box office performer that night for many locations across the country,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president for NCM Fathom Events. “We’ve heard from many fans of this iconic film asking for another opportunity to enjoy it on the big screen, so we’re happy to be able to play it again on April 26.”

Casablanca, one of the most romantic films in the history of cinema, stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid. It received three Academy Awards for the production year of 1943, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. But it’s not just the movie you get with your price of admission. In case you forgot, the evening features a TCM-produced introduction by network host Robert Osborne, who discusses the film’s enduring legacy and reveals some of its fascinating behind-the-scenes stories.

All of this great showmanship is due to the fact that Warner Home Video recently released the Casablanca Ultimate Collector’s 70th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray and DVD. This release is a 3-Disc limited and numbered gift set that includes the remastered feature and nearly 14 hours of bonus material. The keepsake box also includes a compilation of three comprehensive feature length documentaries, a hard-cover 62-page book with never-before-seen on-set photography, sketches, a production history, a reproduction of the original 1942 French theatrical poster, as well as a collectible set of drink coasters.

It seems only natural that after seeing the film in the theater you’re gonna want to get the special edition release. With so many bells and whistles it’s going to be a hard thing to pass up, especially once you whet your appetite with a big screen viewing. And then you can sit in your living room and relive the experience, revisiting Rick’s anytime you want. Remember to get your tickets now!
