CineLatino Film Festival is Back in Denver!

CineLatino is a 4-day, cultural celebration of Latino Cinema. With 13 titles, the festival features a healthy mix of feature and documentary films, along with new and repertory titles. The Festival will take place during Hispanic Heritage month, on September 21-24, 2017 at the Denver Film Society’s Sie FilmCenter. What an amazing way to celebrate a culture? With more culture!

The best way to experience CineLatino is to get the all-access pass to the festival! It includes the Opening and Closing night films and both receptions, all the regular screenings, as well as access to all guests and panels. For Denver Film Society Members the cost is a very reasonable $70. For all Non-Members it's still a great deal at $85. Just go to the main page for the fest (link) and choose what works best for you.

One of the featured new productions is the documentary film, Chavela. The celebrated film is the captivating look at the unconventional life of beloved performer Chavela Vargas, whose passionate renditions of Mexican popular music and triumphant return to the stage late in life brought her international fame. And one of the featured "classic" films presented this year is Robert Rodriguez's El Mariachi. The ultra low, low budget movie was filmed in two weeks on a budget of only seven thousand dollars. The home-spun tale is all about a kind-spirited guitarist, El Mariachi (Carlos M. Gallardo) who simply wants to wander through life as his father and grandfather did - with a song in his heart and a smile on his lips. If you've ever heard of this film then you already know that life does not go exactly as planned for El Mariachi.

There are of course many more films to check out on the official web page. Don't miss this opportunity to see the films that so seldom make it to the multiplexes. Your only chance to see such great stories on the big screen maybe within these few days. Other wise you way have to wait a whole year before the festival comes around again. Why take a chance? Your favorite cultural experience of the year is waiting for you. Enjoy!
