2019 TCM Classic Cruise Is Pleased To Announce Their Star-Studded Lineup


TCM has announced its first round of celebrities who will be taking part in the Classic Movie Cruise, scheduled to launch October 22nd. With the

likes of Cicely Tyson, Diane Ladd, Mitzi Gaynor, Alex Trebeck, Leonard Maltin, and TCM hosts Ben Mankiewicz, Alicia Malone, Dave Karger and Eddie Muller sailing aboard the majestic Disney Magic for five nights, the sea faring movie lovers are in for an unforgettable voyage on the TCM Classic Cruise! And incase you don't know who these people are, I'm going to break it down for you.

Cicely Tyson is a film, television and stage star, whose credits include celebrated performances in Sounder (for which she was nominated for an Oscar in 1972) and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittmann (for which she received a Golden Globe as Best Actress in 1974). Since 1994 hardly a year has gone where she hasn't been nominated for a Golden Globe for one show or another. Recently she was the honoree of a hand and foot print ceremony at the TCM festival in 2018, and received an Honorary Oscar from the Academy in 2019. She is a lady with a rich career who no doubt as some amazing stories to share about her impressive life in the entertainment industry.

Actress, writer, director and author Diane Ladd has many credits to her name including three Oscar and Golden Globe nominee for performances as Best Supporting Actress. Her first nominations were for her performance as a wise diner waitress in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore in 1974. She's also been nominated three times for an Emmy, been feted with many honors and awards by film organizations and societies around the world.

Mitzi Gaynor is probably best known for her role as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. And the comedienne and musical performer was the star of some of the most revered musicals from Hollywood’s Golden Age, including There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954). In addition, Gaynor garnered awards for every other industry nomination she ever received.

Emmy winner Alex Trebek, film critic Leonard Maltin and the four TCM hosts are already well known to the passengers of the special cruise, and need no introduction. But there is another name that is likely unknown to most film fans. Randy Haberkamp is the Managing Director of Preservation and Foundation Programs for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. An impressive pedigree indeed. No doubt the well informed man will provide insight into the films scheduled to appear while at sea.

The cruise sails to the Port of New York to King's Wharf, Bermuda where where guests of the ship will have two days to explore the island. Before, during, and after, the itinerary includes watching films on the big screen in state-of-the-art theaters. Before and after presentations will feature the above celebrities sharing and participating in behind-the-scenes stories, interactive panels and special presentations in elegant venues and beneath the stars on the main deck. With multiple TCM-themed daily events and activities, passengers are sure to in a classic movie paradise at sea. Bon voyage!
