FREE Year Membership with American Cinematheque with Purchase of a Year!

The American Cinematheque is giving away one year of membership FREE with the purchase of one year if you join by December 31, 2009. Membership prices will rise for the first time in many years as of January 1, 2010, as well as the ticket prices. Member ticket prices will remain the same however, so now is a GREAT time to join.

The American Cinematheque is a non-profit, viewer-supported, year-round exhibition organization with theatres in Hollywood and Santa Monica presenting the best retrospectives of classic films, new independent films and short film showcases with membership support. Whether you’re passionate about classic Hollywood films, current cinema from around the world, new Independent American features and shorts, seminars on filmmaking, receptions with filmmakers, live music, or book signings, if you’re an industry professional or a simple film fan the Cinematheque has something to offer everyone. I particularly like the anniversary screenings of classic films that often bring out a swarm of Hollywood legends from the industry’s Golden Age. At various events held at the Egyptian alone I’ve seen Tony Curtis, Kirk Douglas, Martin Landau and Shirley Jones just to name a few of the notables gracing the aisles of the historic landmark theater.

Membership privileges include private member screenings of new films not yet released to the public, often with the filmmakers in person for post-screening Q&A’s. Past screenings included “The Changeling” with director Clint Eastwood in person, “Capitalism: A Love Story”, “ I Love You Man and many others. Other member benefits include a “members-only” phone line for advance ticket sales (important for programs sure to sell out), a “members-only lines” at the Theatres, which allow members to enter first, free tickets with any level of membership, and two free admissions the month of your birthday. And all or most of your membership is tax-deductible! It’s a win-win situation that will make a terrific gift for yourself or someone you know who loves the thrill of old time Hollywood.
